Contained within the cards are activities for young children designed to help them better express, understand, and cope with their grief. Each page also offers guidance about how caregivers can connect with children on the very difficult subjects of death, dying, and bereavement.
Each activity card has both a visual prompt and detailed instructions for the caregiver. The deck also includes tips for the facilitator on how to connect with their child on the very difficult subjects of death, dying, and bereavement. These cards are larger than the standard Preschool cards, which are great for classroom and group settings.
Proceeds from the activity book go to support the charitable purposes of the National Alliance for Children’s Grief.
A number of activities are available as a free preview HERE.
About this project:
These cards were created by members of the NACG and this project honors the children who are grieving.
The experience of professionals working with them inspired the creation of these cards in the hopes that no child will ever feel alone in their grief. They were illustrated by Sandie Sonke. Sandie is also a Southern California native with a degree in studio art from California State University Fullerton. She is a fan of coffee and cooking, and among the many hats she wears, her favorite roles are being a mom of two. Sandie has published several children’s books, and you can also find more of her freelance illustration work at www.sandiesonkeillustration.com
