Development and Communications Manager | National Alliance for Children’s Grief (NACG). Remote (U.S.-based). Full-time.

Position Overview

The Development & Communications Manager supports the growth, visibility, and impact of the National Alliance for Children’s Grief (NACG) by coordinating and executing the organization’s fundraising and communications efforts. This role focuses on building the relationships, resources, and engagement needed to advance NACG’s mission and strategic priorities.

Working closely with the CEO, staff, board, committees, funders, sponsors, and external partners, the Manager helps coordinate NACG’s annual fundraising campaign, sponsorships, donor stewardship, and organizational communications. The role also serves as an important storyteller for the organization, translating NACG’s programs, resources, research, advocacy, and impact into clear and compelling communications for members, supporters, partners, and the broader public.

The position is designed for someone ready to take meaningful ownership of their work while continuing to grow professionally across both development and communications.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Campaign Management

  • Manage the planning and implementation of NACG’s annual fundraising campaign, including timelines, messaging, donor outreach, and follow-up.
  • Develop fundraising appeals and donor communications across email, digital, and other channels.
  • Coordinate donor acknowledgment and stewardship activities throughout the year.
  • Maintain an annual fundraising calendar and ensure campaign activities and deadlines remain on track.
  • Track fundraising results and use available data to identify opportunities to strengthen future campaigns.
  • Work with the CEO to support donor cultivation and solicitation activities.

Sponsorships and Corporate Engagement

  • Manage sponsorship and vendor opportunities connected to the National Symposium on Children’s Grief and other NACG initiatives.
  • Research and cultivate prospective sponsors and maintain an active sponsorship pipeline.
  • Develop sponsorship packages, proposals, outreach, and communications.
  • Manage sponsor and vendor relationships from outreach through commitment, fulfillment, stewardship, and renewal.
  • Coordinate internally to ensure sponsor and vendor benefits and commitments are delivered effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records and track participation, revenue, renewals, and future opportunities.

Communications and Storytelling

  • Develop clear and compelling content that communicates NACG’s mission, work, impact, and leadership in the childhood bereavement field.
  • Create engaging, on-brand graphics and visual content for digital communications, social media, campaigns, and other organizational needs.
  • Maintain and oversee the organization’s content calendar, proactively identifying content needs and coordinating deadlines across campaigns and initiatives.
  • Translate programs, research, resources, advocacy, partnerships, and organizational priorities into accessible communications for a variety of audiences.
  • Manage NACG’s email communications, newsletters, website content, and social media, ensuring content remains current, accurate, and engaging.
  • Maintain NACG’s brand standards and ensure consistency in organizational voice, messaging, and visual identity across communications.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to identify communications needs and opportunities across the organization.

Campaigns and Public Awareness

  • Coordinate communications for major NACG initiatives, including the National Symposium on Children’s Grief, Children’s Grief Awareness Month, educational programs, research releases, resources, and advocacy activities.
  • Develop campaign plans, timelines, messaging, content, and supporting materials in collaboration with NACG staff and external partners.
  • Support opportunities to expand awareness of NACG and childhood bereavement among members, professionals, partners, supporters, and broader audiences.
  • Track campaign performance and engagement to inform future communications efforts.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop clear, compelling content for a variety of audiences.
  • Experience with or demonstrated understanding of fundraising activities such as annual giving, sponsorships, donor communications, or stewardship.
  • Ability to approach storytelling with sensitivity, respect, and sound judgment, particularly when communicating about children, families, grief, and lived experience.
  • Experience developing and managing communications across digital channels, including email, websites, and social media.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to communicate professionally with donors, sponsors, funders, members, partners, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively within a remote team environment.
  • Comfort learning and using technology and digital platforms to support fundraising, communications, and project management.
  • Ability to travel within the United States, including attendance at NACG’s annual National Symposium on Children’s Grief.

Clinical Program Manager for Individual Grief Counseling Services | Collective for Hope; Omaha, Nebraska. Full-time.

Position Overview

The Clinical Program Manager (CPM) under the direction of the Deputy Director, leads the development, implementation, and oversight of Collective for Hope’s inaugural clinical grief services program. As the organization’s primary clinical leader, the CPM is responsible for establishing grief-informed clinical operations that expand CFH’s continuum of care while complementing CFH’s peer-based programming. This role will build and operationalize a short-term, stabilization-focused clinical service model designed to support individuals experiencing bereavement. The CPM will establish and manage clinical policies, procedures, intake and treatment systems, referral pathways, documentation standards, risk management protocols, and HIPAA-aligned privacy and compliance practices. During the pilot phases of services (first 6-12 months), this position will balance providing direct counseling services with significant operational and program development responsibilities. These operational and program development responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: creating a promotional and service rollout plan, establishing policies and procedures, and defining measurable outcomes and success metrics. As demand grows, the CPM will play a key role in scaling CFH’s clinical infrastructure by recruiting, onboarding, and supervising additional clinical staff and practicum students, supporting the development of an external network of vetted grief-informed referral partners, and developing and overseeing grief-informed professional development and educational opportunities for practitioners.

Qualifications
● Minimum three years of clinical experience providing therapeutic services to individuals, families, or groups experiencing grief and/or bereaving.
● Experience conducting clinical assessments, treatment planning, risk assessment, and clinical documentation.
● Demonstrated ability to exercise sound clinical judgment, maintain professional boundaries, and manage complex participant situations.
● Ability to communicate verbally and written in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality and appropriate content.
● Master’s degree in clinical psychology, clinical social work, counseling or a related field required; doctoral degree preferred.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) required. Experience with Microsoft Office 365, Donor Perfect, QuickBooks, Qtego, JotForm, Adobe, Squarespace is a plus.

Compensation: $70,000-75,000

Program Coordinator at Elijah’s Place | Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas. Beaumont, Texas. Full-time.

Position Overview

This full-time position will be responsible for coordination of Elijah’s Place program services, while providing a source of healing, growth, and wholeness for grieving families participating in the program. Provides direct services, volunteer supervision, and administrative activities for the Elijah’s Place Program. The Coordinator serves clients of all religious, racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Other duties include outcome measurement, program development, and public relations.

Travel, evening and weekend hours are required for delivery of services. Must maintain licensure in the State of Texas. Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to further knowledge of childhood bereavement. Master’s level degree preferred and state licensure/certification appropriate to their degree in social work, counseling, education, or related field is required. Background in counseling, social work, or education and experience working with children, adolescents, and/or families. Knowledgeable on childhood bereavement or a willingness to learn. Experience and working knowledge of the development and needs of children. Proven leadership, administrative, and organizational abilities. Must demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus. Must be proficient in MS Office suite with ability to learn agency specific programs and software. Must be flexible and able to balance and prioritize multiple requests, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.

The Grief Center of Southwest Colorado offers grief support to 500+ clients/year through individual, family and group therapy, school-based services, response to schools and organizations following a loss, and special events. Our current budget is $500,000, with a geographical range covering 5 counties in Southwest Colorado, the border towns of northern New Mexico, and two tribal lands. We focus primarily on children and families; our rates of childhood bereavement range from 1 in 4 to 1 in 11 across this region (CBEM 2024), with high rates of suicide, substance-related, and deportation losses. We utilize a team and culturally appropriate family systems approach to our care, contracting with 14 grief therapists and providing training to graduate interns and mental health professionals.
